Gospel according to Saint Mark 10,2-16.

How to be or become a follower of Jesus Christ in the world and in your situation

«... a man shall leave his father and mother (and be joined to his wife), and the two shall become one flesh. So they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, no human being must separate.».

In my experience of connubial life which has now lasted for more than 50 years, I have developed the belief that if a man and a woman do not become 'one flesh', a marriage has not really happened.
In fact the true Love is not just that physical action that can push a man and a woman to meet and join in marriage, because a true marriage exists if one loves one's consort as himself, indeed more than himself, and is willing to forgive and treat own's life partner as, indeed better than himself.
I believe also very important that the marriage be formally celebrated, so the people who marry make an official commitment to feel deeply its meaning. And the greatest commitment is that which is taken in the presence of God, with God witnessing it, let me say.
In addition to having Faith in the teachings of Jesus, one must feel bound by them. Only in this way when inevitable problems and even serious difficulties occur, a couple can overcome them.
Fortunately for us, both of us, my wife an me, got from God the gift of Faith in Jesus Christ: in certain critical moments I asked my Most Holy Mother, the Virgin Mary, to ask Her Son for the grace to make me be able to see my wife with the same eyes when I met her.
So with the help of God we did overcome everything, economic difficulties, diseases, and various troubles, some mistakes also, and the problems that never fail in everyone's life, even the death of one of our three children at the age of 32.
I experimented that's really true «it's not your love that sustains the marriage but the marriage that sustains our love».
Now that we are old we pray and hope that God will grant us to die together, and in the meantime we continue to love each other with a deep affection.

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Mark 10,2-16.

The Pharisees approached and asked, "Is it lawful for a husband to divorce his wife?" They were testing him.
He said to them in reply, "What did Moses command you?"
They replied, "Moses permitted him to write a bill of divorce and dismiss her."
But Jesus told them, "Because of the hardness of your hearts he wrote you this commandment.
But from the beginning of creation, 'God made them male and female.
For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother (and be joined to his wife),
and the two shall become one flesh.' So they are no longer two but one flesh.
Therefore what God has joined together, no human being must separate."
In the house the disciples again questioned him about this.
He said to them, "Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery against her;
and if she divorces her husband and marries another, she commits adultery."
And people were bringing children to him that he might touch them, but the disciples rebuked them.
When Jesus saw this he became indignant and said to them, "Let the children come to me; do not prevent them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.
Amen, I say to you, whoever does not accept the kingdom of God like a child will not enter it."
Then he embraced them and blessed them, placing his hands on them.
